About the Business

The story of Luke’s Auto began when Luke Walker was in fourth grade and took apart a lawn mower engine alongside his grandfather in their Clintonville home garage. This memory is one that has stuck with Luke his entire life and began his love for all things mechanical.

While Luke has been in the automotive industry since 2002, Luke’s Auto was officially born in 2009 when he decided to open his own single-bay shop. This business has now grown to be one of the largest independent repair shops in the country with two locations, serving more than 1500 cars a month and is the highest rated auto repair shop in Columbus.

During a particularly challenging time in High School, Luke remembered an old, dismantled lawn mower engine that he worked on with his grandfather and the joy it brought him. With that flicker of hope in mind, he enrolled in a high school automotive program and discovered his knack for fixing things. He began working at a local auto repair shop and a vision for his future came into focus. Thanks to the care of several mentors, Luke turned his interest into pursuit while also shaping his heart for service. One of the most notable learnings during these formative years for Luke, was that the people who were living with joy, were also serving others. This principle continues to guide Luke in his daily decisions that impact everything from family to business to community. In addition to Luke’s Auto, he also created a non-profit school, EQUIP Skills Center, in which he hopes to provide at-risk youth the same opportunity that he was given in high school: a second chance to shape his future.
