Geoffrey Young and 5 business partners purchased and began managing Kum Koon Garden in 1977. By 1988, Geoffrey became the sole proprietor of the Kum Koon Garden and moved the business to its current location on King Street. In 2003, Geoffrey & his wife, Louisa, managed and oversaw a major expansion & renovation of Kum Koon Garden to its current capacity, which can accommodate up to 650 guests for large banquets & functions. Kum Koon Garden is family owned & operated and has been named top Chinese restaurant in several local, national and international publications including The Boston Globe, Reader's Digest and Canstar News.

Geoffrey was born in Shantou in 1951 and moved to Hong Kong when he was three.  In 1969, he moved to Winnipeg to attend St. Paul's High School for grades 11 and 12.  Upon completion of his high school diploma, Geoffrey went on to earn his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Manitoba.  Geoffrey and five business partners purchased and began managing the Kum Koon Garden in 1977.  By 1988, Geoffrey became the sole proprietor of the Kum Koon Garden and moved the business to its current location on King Street.  In 2003, Geoffrey and his wife, Louisa, managed and oversaw a major expansion and renovation of the Kum Koon Garden to its current capacity, which can accommodate up to 650 guests for large banquets and functions.  Kum Koon Garden has been named top Chinese restaurant in several local, national and international publications including The Boston Globe, Reader's Digest, and Canstar News.
