About the Business

Monte Kobey started Kobey's Swap Meet in 1976 at the Midway Drive-in with a mere 13 sellers and only 200 Shoppers with his daughter Kimberly Kobey Pretto.

In 1980 Monte moved the Swap Meet down the street to the San Diego Sports Arena when it became an overnight Sensation.
Over the past 30 years Kobey's has become San Diego's Biggest & BEST Outdoor Marketplace & Swap Meet.

Kobey's features over a 1000 sellers weekend and over 25,000 shoppers attend Kobeys Swap Meet every Weekend! Over 1 Million Shoppers come through the swap meet gates every year.

Kobey's is still a family run business with Kimberly Kobey Pretto handling all the day to day operations as well as acting as the President of the Corporation. Kim's Husband Charles is the Vice President and Legal Counsel. Their son Anthony Pretto who is Monte Kobey's eldest grandchild was born to shop in 1988 and now he has come into the limelight as the Director of Social Media and Operations Manager.

Anthony's Grandfather Monte Kobey founded Kobey's Swap Meet in 1976 at the Midway Drive In, In 1980 he moved the Swap Meet to the San Diego Sports Arena. Monte Tragically passed away in 1989 leaving the Swap Meet to his Daughter Kimberly Kobey Pretto Anthony's Mother along with her husband & Anthony's Father Charles Pretto.
