Hello, after working as a sushi chef in the top Japanese restaurants for close to 20 years, I noticed the decline in the quality of the fish and realized the negative effects of the industry on the environment. So I sold my sushi resto. For my next project I wanted to do something that was environmentally friendly and Japanese. At the time, when you thought of a good Japanese resto, it was "Fancy". Sushi is only one of many types of Japanese food. I wanted to do something "Amazing" and casual. So, I opened the first real izakaya (Japanese pub) in Montreal (no sushi only cooked foods). It was a challenge at the beginning because nobody knew what it was. How could a Japanese resto NOT serve sushi? People used to walk out because we did not have sushi.Together with a great group of people, we started serving the (now famous) "Sake Bomb" and the accompanying chant. We are now known for our energy and great, friendly atmosphere and excellent, organic food. Come see why we are rated #1!
