About the Business

Our founder James H.Hawkins came to CA from Arkansas on a mule in 1939 and settled on Slater St. where he raised 14 children. He established the first funeral motor escort service in L. A. In the 50's he opened a malt shop similar to the show Happy Days, to support his growing family. Other businesses included a school for struggling students a barber shop and a grocery store where he fed thousands of the needy every Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday! The Watts community could always depend on Mr Hawkins to take care of them in their times of need. In the early eighties with the suggestion of his baby daughter Cynthia, Hawkins HOB was established.There was a need for good quality food at a price that everyone could afford. At Hawkins HOB we only serve top quality product! We exclusively use fresh never frozen Black Angus Beef and all of our vegetables are purchased daily to ensure freshness and superior quality, our #1 priority!
