About the Business

In 1987 Dan Cristiani saw a need for good clean topsoil. That's when he came up with the idea to recycle and screen topsoil from local constrction sites. A screening facility was established in Clarksville, IN and served contractors and landscapers throughout Kentucky and Indiana.
Customers were delighted with the clean screened topsoil and were soon asking for equally high quality mulch. Dan purchased some trucks and a tub grinder and started a mulching operation using regionally sourced tree bark. Manufacturing technology has continually improved through the years to maintain a superior mulch product for our customers.
Local officials were approached about the need to recycle leaves, brush, and yard waste for composting. As a result the local communities reaped the benefits of keeping yard waste out of land fills.
Earth First has grown to five locations offering over 3,000 items for sale including topsoil, mulch, decorative aggegate, natural stone, hardscape products, and gravel.
