About the Business

Duke's La Jolla is named in honor of Duke Kahanamoku--a native Hawaiian, a six-time Olympic swimming & water polo medalist, the father of modern day surfing, and the Hawaiian ambassador to visitors and dignitaries. Duke Kahanamoku's love for the ocean and hospitality is shared by T S Restaurants and is evident in the water-centric lifestyle of its employees and many of the restaurants' loyal fans.

Duke's influence is also reflected in the company's respect for the origin of the products served in the restaurants. That commitment extends to serving fresh, never frozen, fish and seeking out suppliers who offer fish species that are caught responsibly and in season. In addition, T S Restaurants serves only free range Jidori chicken, Compart Family Farms all natural Duroc Pork and whenever possible supports local farmers who use sustainable practices. The result is that guests can enjoy premium quality ingredients reflecting the best of the season in a relaxed and friendly setting.

Established in 2015.

Specialties

Overlooking the La Jolla Cove with sweeping views of the Pacific, Duke's celebrates cooking techniques of Hawaii & California with daily breakfast, lunch, dinner & happy hour. Duke's La Jolla assembled a gifted culinary team to adapt the hugely popular Duke's concept for its newest location in La Jolla. The menus are crafted to reflect a melting pot of cultures while being playful, approachable and focused on seasonal, locally sourced, all natural ingredients. Duke's is a multi-level restaurant dedicated to surfing and the beach lifestyle. Displayed throughout the restaurant is a collection of historically significant, original, and replica surfboards donated and on loan by professional surfing legends, shapers, collectors, enthusiasts, friends and employees. Pictures of Duke and Nadine Kahanamoku highlight Duke's accomplishments throughout his remarkable life. The main level greets guests with an "Aloha to YOU" from Duke Kahanamoku and a semi-circular stair case with a trio of suspended surfboards. The upper level embodies a casual 60s surfer's garage feel with surfboards stored in the rafters. Both levels offer indoor dining and bars with communal tables as well as patios with panoramic views.
