About the Business
At any one time, David Alexander Margolin owns more cars than any of us are likely to own in a lifetime. With motor vehicles "running in his veins", he is a licenced motor car dealer in three states.
Many people will remember that, during the 1950's and '60's, David's father Harry and uncle Emmanual Margolin were credited with "putting Melbourne on wheels". Between them they had 13 car yards in and around Melbourne.
David started working in the motor trade in 1975 in Camberwell, Vic, for a large European car retailer, and loved it so much he stayed for nine years before starting his own business in 1984.
Taking all his belongings and five cars to Sydney, he teamed up with his cousin Paul Margolin, and "Australian Auto Wholesale" was born.
Starting from a large shed off Parramatta Road in Five Dock, within 6 months Paul and David had made enough money to take on the lease on Parramatta Road itself.
The new car yard in Summer Hills was known as "Sydney European Car Centre";
