Colombian-born, Miami-raised owner Ronny Abenhaim literally grew up in the kitchen. Ronny enrolled in FIU’s Hospitality Mgmt program exposing him to a variety of kitchens throughout the Miami area. In 2003, he made the jump to New York City where he worked every station in the kitchen for over 12 years including those belonging to acclaimed chefs / restaurateurs such as Jonathan Waxman, Eric Ripert, Andre Balasz and Mario Batali for whom he ran the kitchen at Italian Wine Merchants. In 2009, Ronny ventured out on his own to open his first restaurant Leña Latin Grill, which paved the way for his latest venture and an amalgamation of the last 20 years in the industry, Cocina Del Sur. He also owns another arepa restaurant called Costas Arepa Bar.
