About the Business

Jerry McSpirit founded Cars of Yesterday Sales and Rentals in 1960, but got into the film business in 1970 by a stroke of luck. A client was working as a prop master for a commercial for a new Revlon perfume called Charlie. The ad featured supermodel Shelley Hack rolling up to The Plaza Hotel in New York in an elegant car. The prop master called Jerry, who supplied a yellow 1941 Packard LeBaron.

The commercial was widly successful, and Jerry's contacts and reputation within the film industry flourished. The next year the same prop master brought Jerry on for The Godfather and The French Connection, and he has been working in films ever since.

Jerry continues to rent cars for weddings and other special events on a regular basis, and is a fixture at several New York City and metropolitan area holiday parades.

Jerry McSpirit provides antique and classic cars for films, advertisements, parades, and other special events. Our fleet contains over 100 cars, vans, trucks, and buses. We scout for filming locations as well as other vehicles not currently in our fleet. The fleet is constantly growing and evolving, so contact us if you are interested in buying or selling!

Jerry McSpirit has been around cars his entire life. Growing up, his father owned a car dealership and gas station in Kingston, NY, and Jerry would work selling cars when he got home from school starting when he was 10 years old.
