About the Business

A doctor, a teacher and a church worker walked into a barn, and the rest is history! Tim, Steve and Gary had been friends for years. Being lovers of craft beer and of people, they had often joked about starting their own craft brewery. After a couple of business starts that never came to fruition, Steve and Gary were approached by Tim who said it was time to stop joking about a craft brewery and to just do it. Tim had watched the 1920's heritage barn in his neighborhood (located in the south mission area of Kelowna) be brought back to life and was ready for a new business. The three met and decided it was indeed time. They interviewed and hired a Kelowna boy, Colin Pistawka, who was brewing in Victoria, to come home to be their brewer since he shared their vision for creating a wide palate of beers that would appeal to a wide audience. Barn Owl Brewing open its doors on July 6, 2019 with 7 of their own beers on tap.

Barn Owl Brewing company opened its doors in early July 2019. Situated in a 1920's heritage barn, BOBCo offers a wide variety of delicious craft beers brewed in-house. The patio, tasting room and boho loft (complete with community tables, fireplace, vintage furniture, shuffleboard, games cabinet and more), all provide an amazing atmosphere to gather people together to enjoy craft beer and other fine beverages like cider, wine and kombucha. BOBCo serves delicious snacks and you are allowed (and encouraged) to order in or bring your own food! A unique craft brewery experience for all that is not to be missed!
